Why we picked this for PhD students who work from their apartment, want lake-side quiet, and don't mind a 12-minute walk to the Quad.

Pre-war vintage with bay windows and real hardwood floors — the apartment looks like the inside of a Hyde Park novel. Heat is included (it's a 1925 building) which materially changes the winter cost equation. The trade is no in-unit laundry on most lines and the 12-minute walk to the Quad becomes a 20-minute slog in February. Worth it if you do 80% of your work from home.
